On a narrow beachfront lot in Malibu, California, is this unique, contemporary beach house redo by San Diego’s Safdie Rabines Architects. Originally purchased by a Los Angeles family drawn to the quiet neighborhood and ocean views, the place needed what they called a “major overhaul.” And major it was: four years in the making, the refurbishment preserved only two of the home’s original main walls — but now it is a stunning, soaring design of wood and glass that capitalizes on incredible vistas on both ends of the site.
